HLD recently had the pleasure of sponsoring the national Crane Industry Council of Australia’s (CICA) annual conference in Cairns, Queensland held over three days in late September 2016.
HLD Managing Director, Blake Hammon attended the conference along with over 300 delegates representing crane suppliers, engineering companies, contracting firms and rigging gear suppliers from all over the world.
Held at the Cairns Convention Centre, the conference covered a diverse range of topics from crane innovation, equipment advances and project case studies and to legislative updates, changes to industry standards and lobbying requirements.
Highlights of the conference included:
- the annual Gala Awards dinner;
- the presentation of the prestigious Lift of the Year award;
- equipment demonstrations; and
- unveiling of the new 40-tonne Franna crane.
CICA is the country’s peak body representing crane industry professionals.
Formed in 1980 with the objective of providing one voice on matters of mutual concern to the Australian crane industry, CICA provides the opportunity for owners, marketers and end users of cranes, to come together through conferences, seminars, meetings and united efforts to represent and progress the industry nationally. HLD is a full corporate member of CICA.
Next year’s CICA conference will be held in Adelaide over the 19 – 21 October 2017.
