HLD Appointed by CPB, Dragados and Samsung C&T JV for WestConnex

Currently under construction, WestConnex is the largest transport infrastructure project in Sydney since the Sydney Harbour Bridge and is due for completion in 2023.

The new 33-kilometre motorway will eventually connect two of Sydney’s main motorways – the M4 in western Sydney and the M5 in south-western Sydney and will provide vital links to Sydney’s main international gateways at Sydney Airport and Port Botany.

Once completed, WestConnex will provide crucial support for Sydney’s long-term economic and population growth by improving the speed, reliability and safety of travel across Sydney and motorway connections from Western Sydney to key employment hubs across the city.

HLD has been engaged by joint venture partners, CPB Contractors, Dragados and Samsung C&T to provide in-depth lift documentation for each lift on the Arncliffe staging site. The Arncliffe site will be used to deploy tunnelling machines towards Bexley and St Peters, through two tunnel shafts.

HLD will undertake a number of feasibility studies in order to maximise the potential of each crane lift as well as determine which mobile, crawler or gantry cranes are suitable for navigating the site.

Additionally, HLD will also be undertaking detailed planning for every machinery and component lift required, in order to help the joint venture meet their contractual obligations safely and efficiently.
