HLD Customises Crane at Residential Project The One, Hurstville

HLD recently erected a fully customised Italian TLX-1350 crane at the construction site for an upcoming residential tower, “The One” in Hurstville, New South Wales.

HLD was commissioned by the project’s construction contractor, GenCorp to solve a highly technical crane requirement; GenCorp required a crane installation in close proximity to a heavy-rail line on a construction site with major physical constraints and height restrictions.

The crane had to service a large, irregularly shaped site whilst serving a 20-storey construction site and remaining within the Civil Aviation Safety Authority’s (CASA) height limits.

The TLX-1350 crane was the only type of crane that could fit within the site but it is only designed to free stand to 15-storeys. In-order to increase the TLX’s capacity, HLD sourced separate tower sections and designed a specialised transition piece to fit them all together.

In addition to a customised design solution, HLD also secured statutory approvals from CASA and the State Rail Corporation on behalf of GenCorp.

Construction is now on-time and on-budget, with project completion currently being targeted for October 2017.

The 20-storey luxury apartment project, currently under construction is being developed by WDL International and built by GenCorp.

At completion, the development will feature one, two and three bedroom apartments, many with panoramic views of the Sydney CBD, a lush green sky garden and a grand entry lobby.
